This portfolio can include anything from the more standard products of electrical energy and capacity, to operating reserves, asset management, scheduling services and various levels of risk management services. Energy ServicesOur services include load following, energy imbalance service, load forecasting, 24-hour scheduling service, energy management and a host of other value-added services. Price/Term StructureOur central geographic location, generation resources, strong interconnect relationships and experience enable us to offer competitive pricing on energy, capacity and related energy needs. TenureWestar Energy offers hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal, annual and multi-year products. In addition, we offer non-standardized variable schedules to accommodate our customers’ needs. Reliability Through Relationships and ResourcesWestar Energy’s central location allows us to be the energy gateway to the continental United States because we can buy and sell power in all directions, quickly and efficiently. Service ContractsOur preferred governing contract for wholesale transactions is the Edison Electric Institute Agreement (EEI). We also have our own bi-lateral Master Power Purchase and Sales Agreement. Westar Energy is also a member of the Western Systems Power Pool (WSPP) and the Mid-Continent Energy Marketers Association (MEMA). With all of these contract options, we can provide the necessary flexibility to facilitate deal executions. Direct Company ResourcesOur generating assets, built to serve more than 674,000 electric customers in Kansas, have proven to be one of the more reliable systems in the country. With nearly 6,000 megawatts of electric generating capacity, we have the experience of serving our native load (all-time peak of 4,938 megawatts on July 19, 2006) as well as understanding the wholesale energy needs of ourselves and others.
