Ali Bukar Ahmad


Prior to his appointment in April, 2024, he served as the General Manager in the Regulations and Compliance Department of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) with over 25 years of combine experience in Research, Technical Maintenance and Electricity Market Regulations through implementation and Compliance audit of the Grid Code, Market Rules, technical and commercial procedures, Codes, Orders and Directives. Studied and worked with Energy and Environmental Agencies in National and International in-outlook institutions.

He served as Chairman, West African Power Pool (WAPP) Committee on the engagement of consultant for the draft of Regional Grid Code. He also served as the Vice Chairman, Ecowas Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERERA) Committee on the draft of West African Transmission Service Access and use Procedures from 2017 – 2018. He was the Interim Chairman, ERERA’s Committee of Regulators and Operators of West Africa Electricity in 2017. The Chairman, ERERA’s Consultative Committee of Operators from 2021 to date, as well as the Coordinator, United Nation University, Regional Center of Expertise (UNU – RECs) on Education for Sustainable Development, Kano.

Mr.  Ali Bukar Ahmad holds Master degree in Applied Physics (Atmospheric Electricity option), Master in Energy Law, Business, Regulation and Policy (in view 2024), a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Change: Managing Risk from United Nations University. He has attended several local and international conferences, seminars and training programs.

He is skilled, well experienced and demonstrates attention to details to ensure proficiency in industrial safety rules and regulations, strong interpersonal communication with team and clients to solve problems, an excellent personnel manager and foresighted with ability to produce high quality of job with effective time management. He has published up to twenty – eight articles in international journal and has a book in view for publication.

Ali Bukar is a Member, World Environmental Education Congress, Member, Congress Alliance, representing UNU RCEs, Member, Communication Committee, UNU Global RCEs – 2009 to 2013, Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Administration and Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Physics.

Head, Technical and Data Administration

ENGR. Muhammad Sani Nuhu FNSE

 

Engr. Muhammad Sani Nuhu is the Assistant General Manager, Technical Data Administration in the Market Operations Sector at Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Corporate Headquarters, Abuja.

He started his engineering career at the Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna where he graduated with a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical Power and Machines Engineering in 1990. His undying quest to knowledge spurred him to obtain a Post – HND in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering in the same prestigious Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna in the year 2001.

He has attended trainings and workshops within and outside Nigeria. These trainings are both in Technical and Managerial skills. These include; SCADA training program at Nianjing, China, Capacity building - Improving Operations and Project Performance in the Power Sector at Istanbul, Turkey, Electricity Balancing Market training at Kigali, Rwanda, Gotni Leadership training programs in Abuja and Lagos, Nigeria. Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) on various Power equipment in Sweden, China and India.

Engr. Nuhu who is an accomplished Electrical Engineer served as an Acting Assistant General Manager (Transmission) at Mando in Kaduna and Ayede in Ibadan Subregions of TCN, where he was involved in the installation and commissioning of power equipment such as Power Transformers, Switch Gears, Protection and Control panels at various voltage levels.

He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE). Member of the Council of Regulation of Engineering practice in Nigeria (COREN), and Member of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE)

He is married with lovely children and a grandchild.

 

 


Head, Market Development and International Relations

Hadiza Bello Bala Mohammed (MRS)


Mrs. Hadiza Bello Mohammed is the Assistant General Manager (AGM), Market Development and International Relations (MD & IR) Department of Market Operation in Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Corporate Headquarters, Abuja.

Mrs. Mohammed as she is popularly known is a graduate of Business Administration from University of Abuja in 1998. She also obtained her master's degree in business administration in 2005 at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State

Progressing in her career, Mrs. Mohammed joined the then defunct National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) as Officer 11 and through dint and hard work, dedication and strong will to excel, rose to the most senior promotion level of Principal Manager and after three years, was appointed AGM (MD & IR) within a recorded period of 22 years. She has been a Marketer all her career though she worked with Regulation and Compliance Department where she acquired some experience in Regulatory Affairs.

In her current position, the AGM (MD & IR), oversees and supervises commercial aspects of electricity trading to both local and International Customers from (NIGELEC, Niger Republic/CEB, Togo and Benin, as well as registration of market participants in Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).  Her diligent exemplary leadership singled out her department as the most responsive and prompt in service delivery as attested to by the majority of participants who commended the department.

Mrs. Mohammed has attended serval International and local training programs, such as Public Utility Regulation and Strategy at University of Florida, USA, Energy Exchange Trading and Operations at Istanbul, Turkey, Improving Operations and Project Performance in the Power Sector, Diberr, Academy, Istanbul, Turkey, Gotni Leadership Masterclass program, Lagos, Nigeria and many others.

She is happily married with amazing children.


Head, Settlement and Commercial Reconciliation

Fatima Hussaini Dikko  (MRS)


 


Mrs. Fatima Hussaini Dikko (Hajiah) is the Assistant General Manager, Settlement Department of the Market Operations sector of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Corporate Headquarters, Abuja.

She began her higher academic journey at the renowned Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where she earned a Diploma in Banking with merit in 1986. She further obtained her Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Business Administration (Banking and Finance) in 1989 and an Associate Member of the Nigeria Institute of Management.

Mrs. Fatima Hussaini began her working career as an Investment Executive at the Industrial Development Bank in Lagos in 1991 immediately after her youth service with First Bank of Nigeria. She joined the defunct National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) / Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) in Abuja Distribution Zone as an Assistant Manager in Marketing, a position she held from 1997 to 2012. Her dedication and expertise saw her advance through the ranks to become an Assistant General Manager in the Settlement Department of the TCN, CHQ, Abuja in 2019.

With 26 years of experience in Nigeria's power sector, she has made some significant contributions to the transmission and distribution sub-sectors, specializing in market operations, settlement statements, and market development.

She has attended numerous training programs which enabled her to be at the forefront of her field. Notable among these are the World Bank International Training Program on Utility Regulation and Strategy at the University of Florida, USA, Financial Modelling in Private Electricity in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Management of Power Utilities program in Tokyo, Japan, Strategic Leadership and Change Management training in Pretoria, South Africa, and Energy Exchange Trading and Operations at Istanbul, Turkey.

Others include; Investment Analysis and Project Management in Tanzania, Accounting and Financial Management in the UK, and various courses focused on revenue management, customer care, and strategic insight into the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.

Mrs. Fatima has made numerous innovative advancements in the market operation, one of which is an improvement in the billing efficiency. Her implementation of a more effective billing system resulted in a 90% reduction in cycle time. Additionally, she offered creative ideas that improved settlement procedures and promoted productive cooperation with other divisions and external parties, improving market performance all around. She ensured maximum compliance with regulatory requirements, avoided penalties, and ensured smooth operations. The most recent accomplishment is the successful deployment of the market settlement software, which has significantly decreased costs and human errors.


Head, Audit

Mr. Akogo Ajieh Sence

FCA, ACTI, AMNIM, MBA, HND



Mr. Akogo Ajieh Sence is an Assistant General Manager (Audit & Control). He is the current Head Audit of the Market Operator Sector. He began his working career as a Grade Level 6 Officer in the Finance and Accounts Department at Egbin Electricity Power Generation Company (now Egbin Power Plc). Over the years, his experience spans the three key divisions of Nigeria's Electricity Sector: Generation, Transmission, and Distribution and the three sectors of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), that is TSP, SO and now MO. Notably, at TCN CHQ Abuja, he has served as the Project Auditor for World Bank and Agence Française De Développement (AFD) projects under the TCN Projects Implementation Unit (PIU). He also served as the Regional Auditor at Port-Harcourt Region, Osogbo Region, and the National Control Centre (NCC).

Mr. Akogo Ajieh Sence is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) FCA, Associate Member, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) ACTI, An Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management AMNIM, he is a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), these demonstrates his knowledge, expertise and commitment to the field of Auditing and Accounting.

Mr. Akogo Ajieh Sence has a prestigious Masters in Business Administration (MBA) majoring in Financial Management form Lagos State University (LASU). His academic foundation in the field of Accounting was obtained in Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, where he obtained his National Diploma (ND), after which he proceeded to obtain his Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting from Lagos State Polytechnic.

Mr. Akogo Ajieh Sence has expanded his expertise on the job through various international trainings which include; Energy Exchange Trading and Operations at Istanbul, Turkey, Advanced Management training on Leading and Managing High Performing Teams in Kigali, Tally Accounting Solutions at Bengaluru, India. He has also participated in numerous trainings across Nigeria.

He is happily married with children.


Head, Finance and Account

DR Abubakar Umar Alhaji

DR Umar is the Assistant General Manager (Finance & Accounts) Market Operations. He holds a Doctor of philosophy Degree in Accounting from the Nassarawa State University Keffi.

He began his working career at the Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority (SRBDA) as a Grade 5 officer before attending the Polytechnic Birnni Kebbi where he obtained the Ordinary National Diploma and the Higher National Diploma in Accounting with Distinctions. As the best graduating student of the college of Administrations he was employed as a part – time lecturer with the Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi, where he lectured Accounting, Auditing, Taxation, e.t.c

He was also employed as an Auditor in the office of the Auditor General of Kebbi State, where he served creditably. He was a member of various state Audit Committees and Probe Panels. His exceptional performance, responsibility and integrity during one of the Probe Panels earned him special recommendation by the Accountant General of Kebbi State to the Management of then National Electricity Power Authority (NEPA). Hence the beginning of a public career.

Dr. Abuabakar Umar is responsible for the Supervision of the Accounting Staffs in Market Operations, Consolidation of Trial Balance and Final Accounts, Cash Flow Analysis, Prudential Reporting on Funds Utilization, Regular Reconciliation with Market Participants and other Stakeholders as well as Submission of Regulatory Reports to the  Nigerian Electricity Regulation Commission (NERC).

Dr Abubakar Umar has attended several Seminars, Workshops and International Trainings in India, Rwanda, Turkey, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates. He is a member of TCN Statutory Audit Committee and Committee on Debt Recovery.

Dr Abubakar Umar is a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (FCNA), Fellow of the Certified Institute of Management Accountants of Nigeria (FCMA) and also a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CITN) among others.

He is happily married with children and grandchildren.
